Background
Robert Kersenbrock has 30 years of leadership experience in the financial services, payments and loyalty industries. Robert has “hands on” experience in strategic planning, product development, sales/marketing/operations management and possesses a unique combination of creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.

Robert has helped several Fortune 500 companies achieve highly successful business results across a broad scope of business activities and objectives. He has also played a pioneering role in the development and implementation of several breakthrough innovations within the credit card, market segmentation and loyalty industries.

During his career Robert has held senior management positions with a number of leading organizations including: First Data Resources, SunTrust Banks and the American Automobile Association (AAA).

In 1992, Robert founded Relationship Marketing Group, Inc. (RMG), a company specializing in consulting to consumer based organizations domestically and internationally. RMG’s consulting services include: strategic planning, marketing/sales support, program and product development as well as implementation support.

Accomplishments/Client Experiences
Following is an overview of Robert’s accomplishments and Client experiences:

  • Played a leadership role in the development, implementation and initial sales of the Affinity Marketing concept in the credit card industry.
  • Conceived, developed and implemented the first points based loyalty program in the credit card industry for Bank One and AAA. Robert’s initial business model and core value propositions continue to serve as the basis for today’s loyalty programs.
  • Developed the first market segmentation models that integrated discreet behavioral characteristics and the resulting impact these variables have on profitability.
  • Developed TSYS’s strategic plan for the loyalty industry. As a result of implementing this plan, TSYS has gone from a minor role in the loyalty industry to one of the largest and most profitable organizations within the global loyalty industry.
  • Led the “operational reengineering” and “technology conversion” projects for Royal Bank of Canada’s Credit Card business unit.
  • Provided strategic and tactical consulting to Royal Bank of Canada which led to the purchase of their “real-time” point-of-sale technology. This technology provides the foundation for the creation of stand-alone and coalition based merchant loyalty programs.
  • Provided strategic consulting to Enhancement Services Corporation, Inc. (ESC), a loyalty processing company, on how to optimize its value in the sale of its business. ESC successfully sold its business at a multiple greater than expected, to the acquirer of their choice.
  • Provided segmentation consulting services to several Fortune 500 companies: American Automobile Association, Mobil Oil Corporation, American Express Co., The Home Depot and Synovus Corporation.
  • Founded the Xcelerator Loyalty Group, Inc. (XLG) an organization responsibility for managing the Xcelerator product line (patent pending), client relationships and licensing agreements. Robert conceived and developed the Xcelerator concept/products which many feel will be the next major innovation in loyalty marketing.
