1999 – 2008 Head of Development
Education and Training Sector (UK Government)

Working with a non-departmental government body for education and training, Richard leads a team of development managers and educational consultants in the strategic planning and implementation of education and training resources and initiatives.

Managing an annual delivery and development budget in excess of £10 million, Richard has presided over the planning, project management and implementation of: -
New delivery systems; On-line CRM and SMS/WAP systems; Student on-line/interactive employment systems linked to curriculum needs; a 4 year £2.4 million initiative to link resources and delivery of vocational subjects between colleges and schools and led the procurement and implementation of an on-line information service for students.

Richard is currently working on a number of projects that broaden the engagement of employers in the delivery of vocational pathways, reflecting longer term economic needs of businesses.

1997 – Present Consultant Electronic Loyalty Systems

Richard has worked with various organisations across Europe in the development of electronic loyalty platforms. He has designed; project managed and implemented a variety of magnetic and smart card solutions, and remains an independent consultant for MJA Associates and Associate Member of the Customer Strategy Network.

1990 – 1997 Head of Card Systems
Argos (Argos Business Solutions) Milton Keynes

He joined Argos to project manage the development and implementation of a new card based electronic points collection incentive programme. Heading a team of 20 Richard managed the implementation of the systems and training infrastructure to over 1800 client outlets, across fuel forecourts and supermarkets and presided over a training programme to over 15,000 people during a course of 5 years and managed technical installation and EPOS links through service agencies to over 3600 units. (The Mobil Premier Points Loyalty Programme)

Richard had full responsibility for a development and procurement budget of £3.0 million pa.
At peak the product achieved operational sales close to £100 million a year.

Additionally he project managed the design, development and implementation of the Corporate Procurement Card for Argos business customers and oversaw the conversion of the old paper purchase orders process to the new electronic card based system, worth £10 million pa.
