A highly experienced loyalty and digital marketing practitioner, Shawn has more than 20 years of professional experience. He graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Management, from University of Oregon, USA. In 2003, he started his career in loyalty marketing, joining a company specializing in loyalty program design and services. Launched & managed more than 20 loyalty and digital marketing programs for industry leaders in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and China, some of whom are Fortune 500 companies. He has worked with clients in Banking, Telco, Airlines, Petrol, Retail, Insurance, and Media. He was involved in strategy and planning, business development, account management, research, and operations for many coalition and private label loyalty programs in the region. Shawn has helped organize Loyalty Conferences in the APAC region, bringing speakers from across the globe to share loyalty strategies and perspectives from different regions.
During his early stint with clients, he saw how organizations struggled with member communication (pre-digital years) due to the high cost of postal services. He then deep dived into digital marketing and communication technologies, learning from several global technology leaders. In 2011, he set up Interactive Rewards with the mission to bring the best of loyalty and digital marketing practices to the industry, overcoming communication shortfalls with omni-channel, targeted, real-time, and automated marketing messaging capabilities. A strong believer in “Walking the Talk”, Shawn prefers to work on pragmatic, effective and quick-win marketing initiatives which demonstrate measurable results, rather than preaching about high level strategies which may never see the light of day.
